Chalk Ware Sailor
29.Mar.2009This is a chalk ware sailor sent to me from New York. It has great sentimental value to a young man who had this since childhood. This was a great challenge especially since I had nothing to look at as an example. I filled the bottom half with plaster to give him weight at the customer’s suggestion. It was a good idea because he was top heavy. The added plaster helped to stabilize him.
His face was about the only thing I did not have to paint.
